Bipod or tripod?
« on: December 01, 2013, 09:40:08 PM »
I have been thinking of picking up one of the Primos trigger sticks for predator hunting. I can't decide between the bipod or tripod. I haven't used a bi/tripod before so I figured I'd ask others that have. What would you suggest?

I use the bipod, in winter months and mid summer. spring and fall I have a bipod mounted on my AR. I didn't go with the tripod for a few reasons. 1 Cost, saved 25 bucks going with the bipod(wife is always happy when your toys are cheaper). 2 For myself bipod is fine, never saw the need for 1 more leg. 3 quicker to set up, I've always felt the longer your set up takes; the higher the odds of being busted setting up are.

I have the first gen. bipod.  I will not go hunting without it again.  The tripod doesn't seam to weight much more, and if I was sitting down to predator hunt, it would be prefered.  :twocents:

I have a Harris bi pod, I loved it, but it is heavy and spendy, its on a shelf now, I bought Tue stoney point bi pod love it, it goes from about 23"-48" roughly. Perfect for sitting or a quick knealing shot. I paid about $30 for it as a tri pod, the third leg was a pain on sitting stands so I yanked it off. Don't ask why but the tri was cheaper then the bi. It snaps on & off of ur sling stud with a detent on the stick end. You still have ur sling, snaps on & off in seconds, quick & easy. I put the sling adapter on all my guns, AR, up to my .375. Cabelas has them but if I member right they were pricey there. If you have a bi mart that's where I got mine. I also have a mono pod, just a V at the top. Keep it beside the drivers seat for the quick one that runs acrost the road with the pistol. Think I paid $10 for it at wallys mart. I hate that store but keep goin back. :dunno:

I have monopod, bipod and tripod.  The mono I use for a walking stick and when I plan a lot of foot travel to hunting stands.  The bipid is a bit tippy and I only found it helpful hunting in a seated position.  I purchased the Cabales brand Tripod and use it the most.  You have the option to use it as a bipod.  The third leg extends well for use on uneven or inclined terrain.  It is fairly cheap compaired to the Bog Pods but I imagine they are better quality.  My only complaint is the shooting V on top can come loose (loose it in the sage brush) so you have to check to make cure it is securely tightened before you hunt.  good luck hope this helps.
